Convert HEIC to PDF

Turning HEIC files into a PDF is usually about making them acceptable somewhere. A PDF attaches, prints and opens everywhere, and a stack of loose image files does none of those things reliably.

HEIC is what iPhones shoot by default, and it is efficient enough that a photo library stays manageable. It is also rejected by a great deal of software, which is why converting a set of iPhone photos into a PDF is such a common request: the PDF is accepted where the individual HEIC files are not.

Each photo is decoded in the browser and embedded as a page. Because HEIC holds a lot of detail, the resulting PDF can be large, so if it needs to meet an upload limit, run Compress PDF afterwards with a target size.

Photographs taken in portrait and landscape can be mixed freely. Page orientation follows each image rather than forcing everything to one shape, so nothing arrives rotated or letterboxed.

How many HEIC files can I combine?

There is no imposed limit. Conversion runs in your device memory, so several hundred images is workable on an ordinary machine.

Will the images lose quality?

The original image data is embedded rather than re-compressed, so what goes in is what comes out.

The PDF is too large for an upload limit. What now?

That is expected when the source images are high resolution. Run Compress PDF with a target size, which reduces the embedded images rather than the document structure.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is transmitted. You can verify it in the Network tab while the export runs.
