About Rotate PDF
A sideways PDF is almost always a scanner problem. The document was fed in the wrong way, or the scanner auto-rotated some pages and not others, and now half the file reads correctly and half needs your head tilted.
Rotate any single page or every page at once, in ninety degree steps. The change is written into the file, which matters more than it sounds. Turning a page in your PDF reader usually only changes how that reader displays it, and the file opens wrong again for the next person. Here the rotation is saved into the page's own definition, so it looks the same everywhere.
Because rotation is a property of the page rather than the pixels, nothing is re-rendered. Text remains selectable and searchable, images keep their exact resolution, and the file size does not change.
Mixed orientations are the common case, so pages are handled individually. Click the ones that are wrong, leave the rest alone, and only what you touched is altered.
How to rotate pdf
- Load the PDF
Drop it in and every page renders as a thumbnail so you can see which ones are wrong.
- Turn the pages that need it
Click a page to rotate it, or rotate all pages together if the whole scan came in sideways.
- Save
Download the corrected PDF. The rotation is stored in the file itself, not just in your viewer.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my PDF open sideways again after I rotate it in a reader?
Most readers rotate the view, not the document, and discard that when you close the file. This tool writes the rotation into the page object, so it persists for anyone who opens it afterwards.
Does rotating reduce quality or increase file size?
Neither. Rotation sets a value on the page rather than redrawing it, so the content is bit for bit identical and the file size stays essentially the same.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Click individual page thumbnails to rotate just those. This is the usual situation with double sided scans, where alternating pages come out upside down.
Can I fix an upside down page?
Rotate it twice, or choose one hundred and eighty degrees. Both give the same result.
