Compress Image to 1MB
Need an image under 1MB for a form, upload or email? Set 1MB as the target and KuroPDF tunes quality and dimensions to fit.
One megabyte is generous for a single image and is normally about page performance rather than a hard limit. A high resolution photograph compresses into it with no visible loss at all, and the compressor rarely needs to reduce dimensions to get there.
WhatsApp profile photos, WordPress featured images, and e-commerce product galleries often target 1MB for fast page loads.
With 1MB of headroom, high-resolution photos compress beautifully. The compressor rarely needs to downscale dimensions at this target.
1MB can hold a high-quality photo at full resolution, noticeably better than aggressive compression targets.
Everything runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly, so even ID photos, medical documents and personal images stay completely private.

Frequently asked questions
How does KuroPDF compress to exactly 1MB?
The engine uses a binary search algorithm that tests different quality levels (and gently downscales dimensions if necessary) until the output file fits at or below 1MB. This ensures maximum quality at your target size.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
All processing happens in your browser via WebAssembly - your images are never uploaded.
What happens if my image is already under 1MB?
If your image is already smaller than 1MB, no compression is applied. You will get the original file back unchanged.
Can I compress multiple image files to 1MB at once?
Yes. Drop multiple files and each one will be independently compressed to meet the 1MB target. Download them individually or as a ZIP.
Will compressing to 1MB reduce my image dimensions?
Only if necessary. The compressor first reduces encoding quality. If that alone cannot reach 1MB, it will proportionally scale down dimensions as a last resort.
